Once again, Costa Rica will set the stage for top decision-makers from the most important coffee companies worldwide to exchange information, share experiences, and engage with a high-level coffee community. “For SINTERCAFE 2024, Climate Change will be the central theme, reflecting the urgency and importance of the discussions that will take place throughout the event,” says Noelia Villalobos, Executive Director.

From November 12 to 15, participants will have the opportunity to attend conferences and workshops focusing on key topics such as the power of collaboration, sustainable agricultural practices, reverse markets, expanding new markets, specialty coffees, and innovative solutions, among others.

Villalobos adds that crucial topics like the Green Deal and the implementation of the EUDR, which is set to take effect soon, will also be addressed. A select group of top-level speakers and experts will share their knowledge and perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing the coffee industry.

“The presentations, workshops, and networking sessions will allow producers to establish new commercial partnerships, improve their marketing and brand positioning skills, and explore emerging markets. Additionally, the focus on sustainability and specialty coffee could open doors to more lucrative market niches,” Villalobos affirms.

Next Gen – Youth Take a Leading Role

One of the most promising aspects of the event is the growth and integration of Sintercafé’s Next Gen chapter, which has gradually taken a more prominent role in the agenda. This year, the active participation of the new generation in various activities reflects the event’s evolution into a more inclusive and collaborative space.

A breakfast organized by the Next Gen council will feature Ligia Madrigal, the first Costa Rican woman to summit Mount Everest, who will give an inspirational talk encouraging young people to step out of their comfort zones and think big. “This session aims to empower the new generation of coffee professionals, inspiring them to innovate and pursue their dreams while honoring the tradition and value of coffee,” Villalobos explains.

The Next Gen Olympics will also take place, where teams will compete in a series of lighthearted games and challenges. The winning team will receive a $1,000 prize, which will be donated to a charity of their choice, connecting with social causes.
